Welcome to mustard seed musings. A little blog of reflections about great, joyful, sorrowful, and glorious subjects, the foundations for a purposeful and meaningful Christian life.
If you might not have guessed from the name of the blog or the title of this post, this blog’s content is centered on Christian values, Sacred Scripture, Catholic Tradition, and Theology.
Faith, Hope, and Love (Charity) are fundamental graces to grow in our Christian way of life. They are also difficult concepts to grasp and virtues to manifest in our broken human world.
Yet, without faith, hope, and love (charity), our Christian call to action unravels. Were we not to be recognized precisely because of our capacity to love; love God, love our neighbor, our enemy?
Faith, Hope, and Love are at the root of everything.
Faith
Both a gift of God and a human act. Faith is both a theological virtue given by God as grace, and an obligation that flows from the first commandment. (CCC 26, 142, 150, 1814, 2087)
Hope
The theological virtue by which we desire and expect from God both eternal life and the grace we need to attain it. (CCC 1817)
Love (Charity)
The theological virtue by which we love God above all things for his own sake, and our neighbor as ourselves for the love of God. (CCC 1822)
This blog aims to be an exploration, a journey through Sacred Scripture, Tradition, and Theology from a Christian and Catholic perspective.
We don’t claim to be experts, but fellow sojourners.
There’s much to learn and discover about our shared inheritance. There’s much mystery, and there’s much wisdom.
And, there’s much fruit we can produce in our lives and help cultivate in the lives of those around us.
We must prepare the good soil in our hearts. Sow the tiny seeds of faith, hope, and love.
To nurture that soil, we must participate, actively listen, attentively read, quietly reflect, ask, seek…
If you like to ponder these subjects, join us as we tend and grow these humble mustard seeds. We hope you’ll be inspired to sow your own. Come back weekly, or subscribe below!
